Pedestrian Accidents In Las Vegas | Adam Kutner

Pedestrian safety with Adam Kutner.  We usually take walking down the street, on the sidewalk or on the curb, walking across parking lots or alleys for granted.  We cross over driveways, alleys, parking lots, and streets when we need to.  We use caution and we assume those using the same areas in automobiles are doing the same.  We may even have the legal right of way.  Unfortunately, the drivers may not be using caution.  They may make their own assumptions about the attention we are paying them.  Or they may not be paying attention to pedestrians at all.  The drivers might be on the phone, or texting, looking for an address or a parking space.  They may be yelling at the kids in the back seat, impressing their friends with their brand new driver’s license, or trying to catch the water bottle that just rolled to the floor.  That driver may be so intent on making a right turn on red; he simply forgets that situation also gives a pedestrian the right to be crossing in front of him.

When you’re driving, it is not just a good idea to pay attention.  It’s the law.  And that is never more important than when the subject of the driver’s attention ought to be a pedestrian.  When compared to a person, even a small car is big, and heavy, and hard, with sharp edges and protuberances.  Even though the driver has the responsibility to be alert and aware of his surroundings, he may not notice the use of a cane or a small child following.  He may not realize someone is moving slower than he would were it him trying to get across the road.  He may not notice the armful of packages.  And when the driver makes the wrong judgment call, the results are potentially life altering.

Injured pedestrians do not just get scrapes and bruises.  They get broken bones, internal bleeding, organ damage, head trauma, and crush injuries.  They may lose limbs or muscle or mobility.  They face catastrophic medical bills, lost time at work, lost time with their families, and sometimes, loss of life.  And all the damage the injured pedestrian suffers is avoidable.  Not by someone taking heroic measures.  But rather by someone simply paying attention when they drive.  Like common sense says they should.  Like the law says they should.  The law not only places responsibility on the driver in terms of traffic tickets or perhaps more serious criminal penalties.  It also places responsibility on the driver civilly.

Attorney Adam Kutner knows the driver’s obligations and he knows the financial restitution to which you as a pedestrian are entitled.  He can assist you in obtaining financial relief for the injuries you or a family member may have suffered as a pedestrian.  He may be able to do so on a contingency basis, where you will not be out further monies for his services.  Rather, he will be paid out of the recovery he gains for you.  You don’t have to go through the process of asserting your rights and proving your entitlement by yourself.  Adam Kutner can do that for you.
